SELF DEFENCE TRAINING FOR GIRLS
Safety of children is of prime concern to all. It is an unfortunate reality that in today’s world, the safety of our children is often at stake. Some recent incidents have further accentuated the need to ensure safety of girls. Teaching girls to defend themselves is a useful means to empower them. Apart from preparing girls to deal with any untoward situation, self defence activities are also an excellent way of promoting physical fitness. These strategies cultivate in individuals the ability to remain alert yet calm at all times. Working on this line our school conducted Taekwondo session for girls of classes VII to XII from 5-9 October, 2015. The training session of 45 minutes daily, encapsulated exercises to increase the stamina and flexibility of the body. The girls were also trained in front and back kicks, face block, punches and other attack mechanisms. The workshop concluded with a valiant show by the girls displaying the moves that they had learnt during the week. This training will assist girl students to become more aware of their surroundings and to not feel helpless in any situation.
